About

About Shoshin Way CIC - Community Interest Company

Shoshin Way CIC is a Community Interest Company based in Crawley, supporting mental and physical wellbeing through practical, structured programmes.

We work with children, young people and adults, including those who may feel unseen, left out or overwhelmed. Our aim is to create supportive spaces where people can improve wellbeing, build confidence and feel more connected.

What this work is for

We believe that wellbeing support should be practical, accessible and meaningful.

Many people are carrying more than others realise. Some feel isolated. Some feel excluded. Some have lost confidence, routine or a sense of connection. Shoshin Way CIC exists to offer supportive, grounded programmes that help people feel more settled, included and supported in everyday life.

What ‘Shoshin’ means

‘Shoshin’ is a Japanese term often translated as ‘beginner’s mind’.

It points to an open, curious and willing approach to learning and growth. For us, it reflects the value of staying open-minded, returning to the basics, and creating space for steady progress. However much experience someone has, there is still value in learning, adapting and taking the next step forward.

How we work

Our programmes are shaped around the needs of the group, setting and people involved.

Depending on the context, sessions may include movement, breathwork, mindfulness, coaching-led support and related practices. The focus is on creating practical experiences that support wellbeing, confidence, connection and healthier routines.

Who we support

We work with children, young people and adults in community, education and organisational settings.

This includes people who may feel overlooked, excluded, isolated or under pressure, as well as groups and organisations looking for practical wellbeing support for the people they serve.

Experience and background

Shoshin Way CIC draws on many years of experience in teaching, coaching and wellbeing-based work.

Our approach is grounded, practical and people-focused. We are interested in creating support that is accessible, respectful and useful in real life – not just in theory.
